Herschel 200
The year 2022 marked the death annivesary of William Herschel who notably discovered the planet Uranus and infra red. He was for a while in Bath and then lived for many years in Slough where he died. See The Herschel Partnership Google listings for Herschel 200 for more info An article from the local paper I went to the Curve in Slough on November 15th to celebrate the birth of Sir William Herschel. A special cake was presented to the public and there was some "choral music" before it was cut for visitors to the event. It was attended by just over 100 or so people..in Slough (or Slo!) where Herschel lived was a very small place unlike now. Essentially, it is still a working class area with a huge trading estate (started around the early 1900s) where many big corporations and factories are found today. Moreover, I should add that this Birthday event was the only one I went to. There were a number of others in connection to Hershel (200)....
