Images of Windsor Castle in the Georgian Era.....

Image
One of the most interesting books I have ever come across is a collection of colourful images of Windsor Castle in the 18th Century. The artists here wereThomas Sandby, and Paul Sandby. I used to live in Windsor..circa 1966-1977. It was where I was essentially educated, and had my early life in this world of ours. I also had a fascination in history, and ofcourse, the Castle itself  has an intriguing past. The interesting book I notably refer to above is the following, and I got it for just £1 at a sale of old books from the old Slough Library. It was in good condition. The Hershel Partnership

Image
Though I have lived in Slough for many years.. for some reason, or other I have not taken any real interest in William Herschel who discovered the planet Uranus,  and made many important contributions to Astronomy. His sister Caroline acted essentially as his helper in his work, and she like her brother deserves some acclaim. She was the first salaried female astronomer in the history of science. In the Library in Slough I have been reading an excellent, and readable book entitled The Hershel Partnership. An account notably from the POV of Caroline herself ...(pic/Amazon) William Herschel From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigation Jump to search For other uses, see  William Herschel (disambiguation) .
